About the Designer, Allison Achauer

Although her initial training was in costume design for the theatre, Allison Achauer has branched into several other fields as well. When not making costumes for the Los Angeles Opera, she is busy designing levels for an upcoming online roleplaying game, hosting and designing websites, and making the jewelry you see here. She also spends a fair amount of time watching her husband's band, Artichoke, and doing the graphic design for their albums - most recently Never mind the bollocks here's the Sex Pistols by Artichoke and 26 Scientists Volume One Anning-Malthus.

The jewelry she makes started out simply as a way to have something nice to wear, but the near-endless variety of stones has led her into making far more pieces than she can reasonably be allowed to keep. This site is the result of her lamentable excess. Each item of jewelry is an exploration of the stones at hand, and each variation suggests three more. As a result, she never makes the same thing twice. Every piece is one-of-a-kind, and once it's sold, that's it!
